Prime Minister’s Scholarship Mission 2017:- Union Human Resource Development minister Prakash Javadekar said that the ministry under the proposed Prime Minister’s Scholarship scheme will provide a monthly scholarship of Rs 75,000 to 1000 best innovative minds to encourage research and innovation among them, according to PTI. Javadekar, while speaking at the fourth convocation of Sri Sri University said that the government is building a better research infrastructure in the country at a cost of Rs 20,000 crore. he was quoted saying, “India lacks in innovation, therefore, turn this adversary into your strength.” Javadekar further talked about the education system in the country and said that the ministry is working towards reducing the University Grants Commission (UGC) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) control over universities. This move of the ministry is being initiated with the aim to provide more autonomy of the higher education institutions so that these institutions get more freedom for better education and research. While talking about the education scenario in the present Javadekar called upon the students to face the challenges of life with smile and confidence. He further said that education is not stuffing the mind with information but building a strong personality and inculcating great human values.

During the fourth convocation of Sri Sri University, at least 169 graduates and post graduates received their degrees from the dignitaries, of which 11 were awarded gold medals for outstanding performances in seven different courses, including M.Sc in Osteopathy, a method of treating patients by moving bones and muscles supplemented by therapeutic measures. Three research scholars of the University were awarded PhD degree on the occasion and Dr Deepak Mittal, the MD of Internet Tractor Limited received honoris causa.
